Strata Modul Appoints Deniz Otay as Poet in Residence to Lead “Re/Verse” — A New Curated Poetry Series

by Lena Vasile on March 25, 2026

Positioned as a central pillar within Strata Modul’s evolving cultural framework, Re/Verse will function as both a literary platform and a curatorial instrument. Each edition will be developed around a conceptual theme aligned with the gallery’s exhibition program, extending the intellectual and emotional resonance of visual works into the domain of spoken word. Through a carefully selected roster of poets, writers, and interdisciplinary voices, the series will explore the shifting boundaries between text, performance, and contemporary artistic practice.

Deniz Otay’s appointment reflects Strata Modul’s commitment to fostering critical dialogue and expanding the role of poetry within the contemporary art ecosystem. Her curatorial approach will emphasize precision, relevance, and tonal coherence—bringing together diverse voices under a unified conceptual framework. Each Re/Verse event will present a sequence of curated readings, where invited guests engage with the central theme through original or selected texts, performed live before an audience in an immersive setting.

“Poetry, in its most essential form, is an act of attention,” said Otay. “With Re/Verse, we are creating a space where language is not only heard, but situated—within context, within dialogue, and within a broader cultural moment. The aim is to build evenings that are both rigorous and immediate, where meaning unfolds collectively.”

With a background that spans contemporary poetry, editorial work, and interdisciplinary collaboration, Otay brings a distinct curatorial sensibility to the role. Her work is characterized by a sensitivity to structure and atmosphere, as well as a commitment to exploring the political and emotional textures of language. At Strata Modul, she will work closely with the curatorial team to ensure that each Re/Verse edition operates as an extension of the gallery’s programmatic vision.

“Strata Modul has always been invested in the convergence of disciplines,” said Lena Vasile, Gallerist at Strata. “With Deniz Otay, we are not simply introducing a poetry series—we are establishing a new curatorial axis. Re/Verse will operate as a live, evolving response to our exhibitions, creating a dialogue between visual and verbal forms that deepens audience engagement and expands the scope of contemporary practice.”

The inaugural edition of Re/Verse will be announced in the coming weeks, with subsequent events scheduled as part of Strata Modul’s ongoing public program.
