Sorin Prodea

by Sorin Prodea
Sorin Prodea (b. 1997) is a multidisciplinary conceptual artist with a strong interest in performative practices.

“Growing up in an environment where the past was so present, I’ve always felt caught between two realities. When the past and present coexist, you must learn to cooperate with this duality. As a result, time has become a central aspect of my artistic research. I explore the past through personal recollections. As for the present—it is always here and now. In my work, I aim to explore different formulas of hybridization by using a variety of materials and concepts. My practice is constantly evolving and always shifting in relation to the circumstances I find myself in.
In some projects, I use astronomical numbers, mathematical formulas, or infographic elements. I’m interested in how these numbers relate to reality and how the overwhelming flow of data can evoke the sense of a utopian world governed by numbers.”
Sorin graduated in 2019 with a degree in Drama, Theatre and Performance Art from the University of Sussex, UK. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art, University of the Arts London (UAL).

In 2019, he was selected for a summer residency at the renowned Watermill Center in New York—founded and directed by the prolific theatre director Robert Wilson—where he presented a performance during the Watermill Center GALA, in front of iconic figures such as Marina Abramović and Philip Glass.
